Why You Need a 2020 McLaren 600LT in Your Life
The 2020 McLaren 600LT Spider brings on a new dimension of excitement to the Sports Series family without compromising on performance and the dynamics found in the line-up. Since McLaren has discontinued the 600LT coupe for the 2020 model, the trim lineup currently consists solely of the convertible 600LT Spider. This is the fifth in the lineup to carry the Longtail name and fully embodies McLaren’s Longtail philosophy of reduced weight, optimized dynamics, increased power, track-focused dynamics, and limited availability.
The McLaren 600LT Spider takes full advantage of the strength of the Carbon Fiber MonoCell II Chasis, resulting in dynamic abilities at par with the discontinued 600LT Coupe. With a weight premium of just 50kg, no additional structural strengthening is required. In addition to weight, the top-exit exhaust that debuted on the coupe has been retained. Though it sounds like the previous it looks much better with the rear window on the convertible lowered.
Depending on how much fun you like, the 600LT Spider will shoot flames out of its top-exit exhaust. Enhancing the Spider’s experience with open-air motoring is a power-retractable hardtop that allows you to easily lower or raise the three-piece roof at the push of a button.
The convertible is powered by an electronic control system of the twin-turbocharged, 3.8-liter V-8 engine producing 592 horsepower and 457 pound-feet worth of torque. The power is transmitted to the rear wheels aided by a dual-clutch, Seamless Shift, seven-speed Gearbox.
The 600LT Spider reaches 62 miles per hour in 2.9 seconds, with 124 miles per hour achieved in just 8.4 seconds. The maximum speeds achieved on the convertible are 201 miles per our when the roof is raised, and 196 miles per hour with the roof lowered. The fuel economy on this car is estimated to be about 15 miles per gallon (mpg) city and 22 mpg highway.
