How to Open Your Door If Your McLaren Key Fails

If your McLaren key fob has died, and you’re locked out of your car, Boca Raton and Palm Beach Gardens drivers have nothing to worry about. Your vehicle is one step ahead of you. Your Mclaren contains sensors that can identify when your key fob’s battery has reached a certain threshold. When your vehicle has sensed that your Key Fob is on the fritz, it will crack your driver’s side window in order to ease the manual opening of your vehicle.

In order to manually open the door of your McLaren, Miami drivers will need to do the following:

1. Remove the mechanical key from their key fob. To do so, you’ll want to find the button on the side of your fob, press it, and then pull the key out of the top of the fob while you hold the button down.
2. Once you’ve procured your key, you’ll want to take off the driver’s side rocker panel, located along the bottom sill of your car’s left exterior side. Pull the latching tab on the rear edge of the panel. Pull towards the undercarriage of the vehicle to remove it.
3. Once it’s been removed, you’ll notice a hidden lock center. This is the lock into which you’ll want to insert your mechanical key. Once you’ve unlocked the cylinder, slowly open the driver’s side door while applying downward pressure.

Troubleshooting McLaren Key Fob Battery Replacement

If your McLaren key fob battery has died and you’re looking for a replacement, our Parts Department can help you obtain the CR2032 cell battery your key fob needs. Once you’ve received your replacement, follow these simple steps in order to change your battery out:

1. Press the button on the side of your fob (the same one used to release the mechanical key).
2. Remove the mechanical key and then slide off the carbon fiber cover.
3. Use a coin or something similar to remove the battery cover. Then change the battery.
